Shooting at Maesmawr Hall

Maesmawr Hall Game Shooting Estate by Bettws Hall

Nothing quite prepares you for the absolute charm and architectural elegance you will encounter upon arriving at Maesmawr Hall. It would appear that a beautiful French Chateau has been relocated to a wonderful backwater of Montgomeryshire. Step inside and the roaring open fires and aroma of freshly brewed coffee provide a warm welcome and cosy atmosphere at the start of the day.

The shooting estate, which was laid out as a hunting retreat in the early 19th Century, leads away from the Hall and forms some impressively steep and deep valleys, perfect for driven pheasants. With an array of deciduous and coniferous woodland, together with perfectly positioned game crops, there are drives at Maesmawr which will certainly test all.

After the mornings sport, the shooting party return to the Hall for lunch in the summer dining room. From here there are wonderful views out over the lake and onto some of the drives you may have shot that morning.

The afternoon shoot soon follows and guests test themselves under birds from drives like Llanfair Wood and Forrest Lodge to name but a few.

Maesmawr (pronounced Mice-mawer) is the family home of David & Christina Trant. The shooting estate provides a wonderful shoot with some great pheasants in stunning surroundings and not too far from the lodges at Bettws Hall. You can be assured of a relaxing day in a magical place.
